La Casa Pizzaria
4432 Leavenworth Street, Omaha, NE
Where we went:
Tonight we wanted pizza, but not just any pizza. We chose a pizza place that Kyle had never been to and that Eric had only been to a few times before, La Casa Pizzaria. La Casa has two locations, one on Leavenworth by the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and another on 84th and Grover Streets. Because we were closer to 84th Street we decided to go to that location. However, upon arrival we realized, although it is the same restaurant, it wasn’t full service. It seemed like it was mostly a place for people to pick up orders, with a small dining room attached, and a limited menu. Well we had all night, so we decided to pick up and go to the Leavenworth location. Upon arrival we found a beautiful restaurant with wait staff and their full menu, that is what we were looking for!
What we Eat:
As already stated, we wanted pizza, so, despite having multiple italian dishes on their menu, that is what we ordered. Kyle went with the margarita pizza and Eric ordered the classic hamburger. Our friend Eric joined us for dinner tonight, and went a different route, ordering the unique Shrimp Salad. Eric topped his meal off with a glass of their signature drink, followed by a Snickers pie.
The Food:
There is only one word to describe the food at La Cassa, Excellent! Everything about our meal was perfect. The margarita pizza came with so many rich flavors, and the hamburger pizza was classic as you can expect. To top it all off, the Snickers pie actually tasted like a Snickers! These types of pies are usually just cream pie with candy bar shavings on top, this was clearly a Snickers pie!
The Atmosphere:
Although the outside of the building might look a little sketchy, this stretch of Leavenworth isn’t know for being the most visually pleasing, the inside was very nice. The walls were full of artworks by local artist that were actually for sale. Apparently, this is something they do all the time, so if you are looking for a great dining experience inside, what is basically, an art gallery, La Casa is the place for you.
The Service:
The service was just as excellent as the food. We were seated fast, and our waiter was quick at taking our order and refilling our drinks. It did feel like the food took an unusually long time to come out, but we weren’t in a hurry, so we didn’t see anything wrong with that. Especially with how good the food was once it arrived.
In the End:
We really enjoyed our visit to La Casa Pizzaria. Everything from the food to the service was perfect. Eric particularly wanted to order another one of their signature beverages, but held off. Just remember, if you are out west, you will need to trek to Leavenworth for the true La Casa experience, don’t be fooled by the La Casa West.
