SInful Burger: Sports Grill
4005 Twin Creek Drive, Bellevue, NE
Where we went:
It was a dark and stormy night, and Kyle and Eric wanted to treat themselves, so they traveled a bit outside of Omaha to our neighboring community of Bellevue to try something naughty: Sinful Burger Sports Grill. Sinful Burger is a small, dark and hidden away sports bar located in the Twin Creeks shopping plaza. Although the outside looks like any other suburban strip mall, the inside is very unique. Most of the items on the menu are named after the seven deadly sins, there was so much to chose from.
What we Eat:
Kyle wanted an appetizer, so he ordered a Philly Cheese Egg Roll, one was large enough for two people. The choice of the main dish was much harder. Kyle really wanted to try their Indian Taco, but because it was a burger place, he thought he should try their burgers first. He went with the Classic Sinful Burger, a burger with the cheese cooked right into the patty! Eric went sinful with the Lust Burger, which included basil pesto, blue cheese crumbles, and house-made garlic mayo. Even their drink menu was sinful, Kyle got the Desire, a “sinful twist on a mai tai” and Eric had the Green Envy, made with vodka, pineapple and orange juices, and melon liqueur to give it its green color. Unbeknownst to Kyle, Eric ordered the large order of fried Oreos for desert.
The Food:
The Philly Cheese Egg Roll was good, it came with a house-made chipotle mayonnaise dipping sauce that was a little too spicy for Kyle, but mixed with some ketchup Eric loved it and even used it on his fries. Speaking of the fries, Kyle thought they were just okay. They were shoestring fries which Kyle isn’t a fan of to begin with, but they just had a bit of a taste that Kyle didn’t care for. Eric liked them well enough. By themselves they weren’t anything special, but they made for a great vehicle to deliver chipotle mayo into his mouth. That being said, the burgers were AMAZING!
Kyle had forgotten their was cheese baked into his patty, so upon his first bite a mountain of warm gooey cheese greeted his taste buds. Kyle feels this is one of the best burgers he has had in a long time. Eric loved his burger as well. He was worried about the garlic mayo and blue cheese being overpowering, but they paired really well and overall were pleasantly subdued. And the basil pesto was the magic that brought the whole burger together. It was occasionally overpowered by the blue cheese, but when the taste shined though, it was amazing.
Both the drinks were excellent, Kyle and Eric tried each others and funny enough, Kyle liked his better then Eric’s while Eric preferred his over Kyle’s. So it looks like we both ordered the right thing!
Then there were the fried Oreos. Kyle had never had fried Oreos before, so wasn’t sure if he would like them, he sure did!. Between the soft Oreo, the warm batter, which Kyle and Eric never did figure out what type of better they used, and the thick powdered sugar on top, everything about this desert was perfect. Kyle originally wondered how we would finish off all seven of them, but by the time we were finished, he and Eric were both wanting more.
The Atmosphere:
The black walls, red sparkling 1950’s style booths, black marble table tops, and glass brick dividers really pulled out the sinful theme the restaurant was going for and gave it a really distinct themed look. However, the walls were also covered with lots of beer ads and banners for various sports teams showed that, at the end of the day, it was truly a sports bar. It’s kind of an awkward clash of themes. Eric wishes they would stick more strongly to the unique hell-esque decor to really stand out amongst other dining locations in the area.
The Service:
The service at Sinful Burger was not bad, there seemed to be only one waitress, one bar tender and one cook. This might normally work for a small restaurant like this, but there were three large groups, so the service was a little slow. But other then that, the drinks were cold and the food was hot, so I guess we have no place to complain.
In the End:
Sinful Burger lives up to its name, with great drinks, amazing burgers and wonderful deserts, Kyle and Eric will sure to be back to try out even more options from their menu.
But if you really want to sin, you have to take their Goliath Challenge! The Goliath Challenge is a 5 pound burger that you are required to finish in one hour. If you finish you get your photo on their wall of fame. If (or, according to their website, WHEN) you fail, you have to pay $32.00 for the burger and get your picture on their wall of Epic Failures! We went to look at their wall of fame and wall of epic failure, Their wall of epic failure was huge, and we couldn’t find their wall of fame, so apparently no one has ever successfully finished their burger within an hour.
